Through change

Change is lived locally. Follow it as it happens.

Through a merger, a turnaround or a transformation programme, Tensense shows what the people going through it are experiencing, cycle by cycle. Leaders see where to engage, and on what.

Where it’s used

Four common situations.

In each, the pressure falls unevenly across teams. Tensense shows where it’s being felt, and how.

How it works through change

Measure. Explore. Act. Re-measure.

Measure your baseline once, then explore, act and re-measure as the change unfolds. Reports and debriefs

  1. 01

    Measure your baseline

Run your first cycle before the change or as early as you can. It captures the starting point for everyone in scope.

  2. 02

    Explore what it shows

Tensense identifies issues and highlights where to engage, and on what. Leaders discuss the context with their teams.

  3. 03

    Act

Each report suggests interventions to trial. Drawing on these and what their people have told them, leaders agree one or two small, testable actions for the next cycle.

  4. 04

    Re-measure

Run the next cycle to see what has shifted, and where, then return to step 02.

In their words

Leaders who used it through change.

A merger, a turnaround and a restructure, and what each chief executive learnt from staying close to their people throughout.

Through a merger · Nefro Avillion

“Tensense gave me an honest, continuous read on how our combined workforce was really feeling, showed us exactly where confidence was slipping, and let us act while issues were still small.”
Allison Jeynes · Former Chief Executive Officer, Nefro Avillion

Through a turnaround · Private equity-backed businesses

“The transformation wouldn’t have been possible had Tensense not been able to tell me the extent of the challenges faced by the business and continually inform me of how we were progressing in turning the company around.”
Nigel Hunton · CEO, Fralock; former CEO, Intevac

Through a restructure · Verisk

“I’d recommend to any leader considering organisational change, is to run Tensense early. Run it before you start that change programme.”
Tim Rayner · CEO, General Insurance for UK & Ireland, and Specialty Business Solutions, Verisk

Questions

What leaders ask when things are changing.

Will it tell us whether the programme is working?

Not on its own. Through its 16 fixed prompts, it shows how people are experiencing the change, and whether that shifts, so leaders can explore why. The wider judgement stays with you.

Can we run it with just the people affected?

Yes. Tensense is usually deployed across the whole organisation, but it can also be run with part of it, such as the people affected by a change programme. Including a group that isn’t going through the change gives you a useful comparison. Include every level affected, rather than a single level such as only managers.

Will people be candid when uncertain?

Anonymity makes it more likely. During a change, people can be wary of saying anything that might reflect on them. Responses are anonymous to your organisation, so they can say what they really see. How anonymity works

Will it add to people’s load?

About 90 seconds per person each cycle. People give an instinctive response rather than a considered one, and the 16 prompts don’t change, so it stays quick even when people are stretched. The science

How often should we run it?

As often as you need. You can tie cycles to milestones in the programme, but running them more often lets you act quickly as people move through the change curve.

How quickly do we see results?

Rapid reporting at the end of each cycle, with a virtual debrief for any leader who wants one. While a cycle runs, we can send you regular progress updates, if you’d like them. Reports and debriefs

Does it replace our engagement survey?

Keep it. The two are complementary: your survey captures each person’s own perspective at set points in the year, while Tensense captures how each local team is experiencing the change, as often as you need in between. How the two compare and work together

Can it work alongside our consultants?

Yes. Working with consultants and other advisers is a core part of what we do. We collaborate fully, alongside them or through them, sharing reports with them, whichever will most benefit the programme. Consultancies and Insights Discovery practitioners can also partner with us.

How is it priced?

By the number of people in scope, whether that’s the whole organisation or only the people going through the change. We’ll give you a quote during or after your demo debrief, or you can email info@tensense.ai.
